Spanish government invites TRNC President for talks
President Talat explained that Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos’ invitation to talks was the first time an EU country had done so. As Spain currently holds the rotating presidency of the EU this is a very important move.
President Talat said that Moratinos promised that “he would do everything in his power to help the TRNC. Spain wants to deal with the Cyprus issue seriously as president of the European Union. The most important aspect of this visit was that Spain, which holds the rotating presidency of the Union, invited us. Any EU presidency has not invited us before. Spain was the first.”
This official recognition is promising as is the expectation that during Spain’s 6 months presidency four areas will be opened in Turkey’s negotiations for EU entry.

as time goes by more and more eu countries seem to be getting a bit more sympathetic to the TRNC,undoubtably this upsets the GC’s , as to turkey’s entry to the EU the french will veto them, with already 6 millon muslims in the country, turkey’s entry would open the flood gates for more to come in.

Mr Proctolis,
You display a lot of bile, but not much intellect. You can’t “abuse” the ratings system here, because all you have to do is click on the link to read the hidden message. Nothing is deleted. It’s not neurosurgery.
And “home truths”? No, mate, all you write is simply your own biassed, lopsided viewpoint…you can’t disguise that kind of drivel by calling it “truth” of any kind.

No bones in my paella.
Of course they rejoice at every bone thrown, it means for every
bone there is someone who sees through the GC propoganda machine.
Keep throwing, eventually all those bones can be turned into a
rich stock.
So sayeth the queen of misdirection.

GR, “Utter rubbish! As per usual… no such thing happened!”
This came from a Greek news service – http://www.hri.org/news/cyprus/tcpr/last/last.html#02
GR, why do you believe this did not happen?

GR, your link is about the 21/2/2010 meeting whereas the meeting with President Talat happened on Friday 26/02/2010. I am sure this will be added as soon as possible but the reason it is not on the Spanish site is probably due to no one working at the weekend.

GP, there is no free lunch either but what we were discussing was quite important. You challenged the meeting and I defended the meeting because we have different biases. However, if the meeting turns out to not have happened I will accept that Turkish propaganda may have been involved. If it turns out to be true I do hope you don’t came back with evidence of your brainwashing.

GP,
It’s sad to note that at the point where you realise your argument has been cut from under you, the automatic mode you then adopt is the standard non-sequitur, followed immediately by the standard complaint about something that is not correct.
The only post I’ve seen censored here is that one by Kyri containing obscenities. And rightly so.
Your last paragraph is a classic example of laughable dialectic, included by someone who can’t think of a suitable reply.

To be invited by the EU presidency would indicate in no uncertain terms that the TRNC is being welcomed out of the cold. If I might add this is a very positive step by the EU and indicates that the TRNC could soon be fully integrated in the EU with all the benefits and of course some non benefits of being a full member made available to them. What the TRNC needs now if the full backing of Britain, Greece and all other EU member states to make this happen. It is time for both the GC and TC to meet as equal EU members across the negotiating table. Let’s make it so.

ME wrote “Are you REALLY trying to tell me this is going to be better than a solution?”
Which solution? Would it be a back to 1963 type solution? Or do you have some other idea that you think the Two Presidents should be considering?

Yiannis, Yiannis, Yiannis,
To hate someone, first you must have a reason (I dont.)
To have a sense of humour, first you must learn not to take
yourself so seriously. (go on – try)
To be a fool, first you have to do something foolish. (answering you doesnt count – its fun)
To know if I am ugly, first you would have to see me (no chance)
To be bitter and twisted, you would have to be Yiannis (oh you are arent you!)
Yiannis, sorry to disappoint you, any time I want to leave
the TRNC I can afford to and I will. You and bullies like you
will never be the reason.

Yiannis,
I do have a nerve and so do you – I seem to have touched it.
As for meeting you – you offered I said NO – everyone read it.
Too old for you – yes true – in maturity not age.
Bullying verbally is your speciality – as everyone
reads with your posts.
I do hope and pray you get your land back – in the fullness of
time a solution will be found and if your land does not come back
directly to you, I am sure your family will get it or compensation.
You have this great need for revenge against your imaginary enemy
the expats – they are ambivilent towards you.
