It’s a pity there isn’t a token GC, nut perhaps they couldn’t find one, or they didn’t want the session to degenerate into a slanging match.
But I’m afraid that with a bunch of lawyers participating, if it isn’t one long argument, it’ll be an ego-driven talkfest.
We can only hope…

No, Camp, your post doesn’t sum up the whole situation best. What annoys me is the arrogant way you describe your own cleverness while at the same time trying to rub other peoples’ noses in their misfortunes. Your ego is matched only by your inherent nastiness. But in my opinion, Camp, you are the worst kind of *rseclown…one who has bought property in a place you continually slag.
A complete and total hypocrite.

Hey Camp,I just can’t help it…every time I read one of these fatuous, condescending descriptions of yours detailing how wonderful is your organisational genius, I marvel at how you are able to outdo yourself each time in boorishness, smugness, bullsh1t and spite.
You and Yiannis make a lovely pair…put a sock in it and get a life.
- It could happen “only in the TRNC”
Hey Stel, You’re pretty big on offering advice and telling us all what we need to do, but why would we need to lock our doors and get a gun? Are you bubbles planning to visit?I can give some advice to you as well….don’t open my gate and tell me you’re not trespassing.
Unless, that is, you want to argue the toss with a pair of good-sized Rottweilers.

Yiannis, there is a perfect example of your spin….”The overwhelming majority of the Cypriot people wanted ENOSIS , FACT”Of course they did, seeing that every one of that majority was a GC. Not one TC wanted Enosis, mate, and that was where all the trobles began.
FACT…

Yes, Yiannis,it’s always difficult to argue against facts, isn’t it. So it’s back to insults and abuse. Why am I not surprised?

I can see that all participants , ….without exception … are unbiased , completely devoid of any preconceived notions , fair-minded so naturally no one will take them seriously !!
I hope the ‘white paper’ it produces will be of more use than
the roll of white paper situated in my toilet.
Still at least something is being attempted.

There is NOTHING mysterious or complicated about Cyprus properties, but an obvious feeble attempt by some conmen in the occupied territory to cloud the issue so here goes…
1. Who is authorized to manage Cypriot land and properties?
When it comes to Lands and Surveys on Cyprus, there is only ONE recognized authority that has been in operation since 1858; the origins of which was the Ottoman Land Code “Medjelle” which the British inherited upon taking over the administration of Cyprus in 1878, and finally in 1960 the Department of Lands and Surveys was passed on to the new RoC government…
“The Department of Lands and Surveys of Cyprus of the Ministry of the Interior, is the oldest governmental department of the public sector, and started its operations in the year 1858.”

The official site of the Department of Lands and Surveys is here…

2. What is this “Evkaf” or “Vakif” land?
“Evkaf” land was CEASED AND CONFISCATED land from the indigenous Cypriots by the Ottomans starting from 1570; supposedly “set aside for Allah” but in reality it was being commercially exploited fully by the corrupt and oppressive Ottoman community, at the expense of the Cypriots!
Luckily, with the fall of the Ottoman Empire and subsequent 1923 Treaty of Lausanne the Ottoman thievery went down the drain along with the “empire”!
Furthermore, from 1878 onwards the British administration modernized the outdated land system in a series of major land reforms including:
1907: The Immovable Property Registration and Valuation Law
1946: The Immovable Property (Tenure Registration and Valuation) Law
The British administration had set the record straight in 1946 when they passed the “Immovable Property Law” which returned the great majority of this stolen land back to the Greek Cypriots over successive counter-confiscations which you can read about here…
“5.7 The Immovable Property (Tenure, Registration and Valuation) Law”

So what is left of this “Efkav land” today? Not much, it’s the surrounding back yards of Mosques, Muslim cemeteries, and other special religious places like that of Tekke, etc.
3. What is the land ownership in Cyprus?
Land Ownership by Ethnic Group is as follows:
60.9% – Greek/Armenian/Maronite Cypriots
12.3% – Turkish Cypriots
0.5% – Others
26.3% – State/Church Land
Source: Department of Lands and Surveys (refer to Annex 14 in Volume II of the “Memorandum by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus” submitted to the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Commons, 27 February 1987.
4. What is this “Exchange Property” all about?
It’s quite simply a Turkish Cypriot international scam to swindle people out of their money! No such agreement on the exchange of properties ever took place on Cyprus.
5. So how can one know what they’re buying in Cyprus?
Unless you check with the Department of Lands and Surveys to be found here…

GR, that’s a nice summary of the legal position. Your point is?
So, this seminar is going to show TCs how to take action against the ROC to regain their properties (legal) and the carpetbaggers how to hang on to the GC property they have acquired in the north (illegal) – what a bunch of hypocrites.
Malcolm I think GR’s point is summed up above. It’s quite refreshing to see GR post a well considered argument instead of gratuitous abuse – well done GR. (BTW ““Evkaf” land was CEASED”, he probably meant seized.
Jerry, I can’t find any reference to the “how to take action against the ROC to regain their properties (legal) and the carpetbaggers how to hang on to the GC property they have acquired in the north (illegal)” seminar.
As I said, nice summary. I could take issue with the statistics, e.g. Catholic owned monasteries after Henry VIII dissolved them, 0%, so we’ll use that statistic if they wanted them back.
Malcolm, how do you interpret the last paragraph then? Curious logic – I didn’t know Henry V111 dissolved monasteries in Cyprus.
Jerry, it’s all about the EU now and H8 did dissolve the monasteries in what is now known as the EU. Perhaps some of those Catholics moved to Italy and their descendants now want their property back?
Jerry: “BTW ““Evkaf” land was CEASED”, he probably meant seized.”
I beg your pardon people for the terrible spelling mistake!
No excuse!
